# Lumiphane 3D > Browser-based lithophane generator for FDM 3D printing. Upload a photo, preview it with a simulated backlight, then export a print-ready STL, standard 3MF, or Bambu Studio project. Photos stay on your device — Lumiphane does not store them on a server. No account required. Lumiphane (https://lumiphane.com/) turns JPEG, PNG, or WebP photos into 3D lithophanes: thin white-PLA walls that look pale in room light and show the picture when lit from behind. Geometry is built in the browser with an interactive WebGL preview and optical backlight simulation tuned for white PLA. Shapes: flat panel, curved panel, round cylinder, hollow cube, and hexagon. Each shape holds 1–4 photos (hexagon up to 6). Optional border motifs (heart, star, bone) and bed footing. Thickness follows part size (about 0.8–3.0 mm for panels ≤120 mm); contrast, brightness, and invert control the image. The app builds the model only. You slice and print in your own software. Optional handoffs: email an export, tip via Stripe, or order a physical print through Treatstock. No accounts. ## Start here - [Lithophane generator](https://lumiphane.com/): Upload photos, pick a shape, preview with backlight, export STL / 3MF / Bambu Studio project - [How to make a lithophane](https://lumiphane.com/how-to-make-a-lithophane/): Beginner walkthrough from photo to printed part - [Photo to lithophane](https://lumiphane.com/photo-to-lithophane/): Cropping, contrast, multi-photo layouts, and what formats work - [Lithophane lamp](https://lumiphane.com/lithophane-lamp/): Cylinder, hexagon, cube, and curved shades — cool LED only; no socket included - [3D printed lithophane](https://lumiphane.com/3d-printed-lithophane/): Orientation, white PLA, layer height, and slicer recommendations - [Lithophane settings](https://lumiphane.com/lithophane-settings/): What Lumiphane controls vs what belongs in the slicer ## Optional - [Privacy policy](https://lumiphane.com/privacy/): Photos stay in-browser; analytics, ads, and third-party handoffs explained - [Sitemap](https://lumiphane.com/sitemap.xml): Indexable pages on the site - [Contact](mailto:exports@lumiphane.com): Questions about privacy or exports
